 les. Others think sin is just a mistake. Some think sin is not a big deal 
 at all. But if we misunderstand sin\, we will misunderstand salvation. And
  if we misunderstand salvation\, we will misunderstand grace. And if we mi
 sunderstand grace\, we will misunderstand holiness.\nThis book was written
  to help believers understand sin\, grace\, and holiness through the lens 
 of Wesleyan theology. Wesleyan theology is based on the teachings of John 
 and Charles Wesley\, the founders of the Methodist movement. In 18th-centu
 ry England\, John preached a message that gave people hope and challenged 
 them to live a life of holiness. He preached a message on sin and its defi
 nition\, so that people who follow Jesus can be free from the shame and gu
 ilt of sin. Many Christians live in confusion about sin. Some live in cons
 tant guilt because they think every mistake is a sin. Others take sin ligh
 tly and do not understand its seriousness. The Wesleyan understanding of s
 in helps us see clearly both the seriousness of sin and the power of grace
 .\nThe message of the Wesleyan tradition is not just that we can be forgiv
 en\, but that we can be changed. God does not just save us from the penalt
 y of sin\; He saves us from the power of sin and begins transforming our h
 earts so that we can live holy lives filled with love.
